Pride, Vanity & Selfishness
Isaiah 2:11 "The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day."
Psalms 59:12 "For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips, let them be trapped in their pride. For the cursing and lies that they utter"
Proverbs 6:16-19 "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers."
Proverbs 8:13 "The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate. "
LUKE 18:14 " I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
My Heart & The Vanity
On my sixteenth Birthday
My Mother came home with a surprise
And It was such a large gift
You won't believe what was inside
It was brand new old antique Vanity
That had been used very many times
but to me it was like something new
Oh How that Mirror Shined!
I set in my bedroom
Where everyone would notice it
As soon as they walked in
How beautiful it was to me
Oh How beautiful it was to them!
Early every morning
As I would brush my long hair
My reflection looked right back at me
For Hours I would begin to stare
"Oh How beautiful!
You are Mia,
Oh! How Perfect in all your ways
Taking out time to look fantastic!"
I would hear the mirror say.
For Hours I would stand or sit at it
fixing and correcting all my outside flaws
I would find myself Glancing too
once I believed I had fixed them all
All Around me eventually
mirrors became my new best friend
But none compared to my old antique vanity
That would become my greatest sin
I never noticed I was being prideful
until I invited over some friends of mine
All Together there were five of us
but only four of us stood before the vanity and shined
My very closest Friend
her name was Katrina
Stood there and watched us hiding behind a wall
I didn't know what her problem was
but the mirror made the call
"Oh How envious she must be of you."
I Heard my mirror say
"She is not as pretty and refuses her own reflection!"
"Look at how she stands so far away."
To my own pride
and Vanity
I believed what the mirror had to say
And unfortunately, to my own doing
I lost my Best friend
that day
For years the Vanity spoke to me
as I would stare at my reflection
Many friends I lost because of it
for they grew quickly tired of my own affection
Everything changed suddenly
In One day To be exact
It was The day I found Jesus Christ
And that is not a joke it is
A Fact
I came home from church
after hearing the word of God
and as usual I stood
Gazing at my own reflection
But this time the mirror began
To laugh directly me
and I heard it say to me,
"Oh How beautiful you are!
Your Beauty set so high
You have set your heart above your God
above all your friends and so believed my Lies"
"Now look at your own reflection."
I heard a small voice speak quietly inside of me
"Look how you stand their all alone.
For all your friends did leave..."
But if you break this mirror
And look to the soul
Instead of your reflection
You will see!
That their I am
The Great I Am
And in you, their I will always be."
I decided to Listen
To that small still voice
that spoke inside of me that day
and I broke the mirror from
That vanity
And tried to change all my ways
instead of believeing
or listening to all the lies
That vanity had to say
I give and pray all the glory goes to Jesus and God today while writing this post, AMEN.
So, Today lets talk about, what no one ever wants to accept in themselves. Vanity, selfishness, and worse of all pride... Deep in ourselves where the devil likes to lie to us, their is a battle going on, between God, Satan and our soul, and heart where God truly lives.
I see It almost every where, especially in these days and times, I see The enemy working in the most sleek ways inside the most righteous Christian to inside the most ungodly of them all, even in my own self, I see the workings of pride.
WHY IS THIS?
God is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, The Great I am, The first and the last. Jesus is his son and Himself in the flesh, and the holy spirit, who is him who lives within, our helper, are and is and always will be. And is to come and even was before..
Now the problem with Satan is, he does everything in his power to turn you against God, Not simply, Just believing in God, but trying to turn you away from him. One of the easiest ways to turn you away from God is to get you to fall, not by worshipping just Satan alone, rather than God, But even simpler worshipping or thinking to highly of yourself.
Because of this, you and I must have patience and endurance and pray that we all may humble ourselves before the Lord and our father, God... Even so, brought down to the very floor we walk on... Why? Because the truth is God and Jesus are the only beings who we are told to worship. You and I are simply nothing compared to th them, and we must endearingly live by that fact.
The Best news though, for all of us, is simply this truth, God loves us so much, he sent his only begotten son, (Jesus Christ), and he loved and continues to love us so much, that he was willing to die for us and our sinful ways. All while knowing sin and iniquity both abide in us.
So right now this very moment I ask you? Who are you and what do you really believe? Where in part does your soul really make it's bed? How will righteousness or reaching some kind of perfection, ever on your own doing ,give you the right to think you will enter in? You cannot abide in the love of God, because of your own will, no matter what that may be.
So our hope comes from, the fact that Jesus is the only way to salvation.
Prayer For Today
Father God,
I humbly come before your throne to pray, that I may be found in Jesus Christ's love. Help me not to believe any of Satan's lies. Help me not to be vain and or selfish. I believe in your abundant love for me, and I am so grateful and thankful that you loved me before I was even born into this world. Help all who walk in faith be a light that shines before all they encounter.
In Jesus Christ name, I pray, Amen.
